For goats from 40 to 60 kilos

Herbs for goats

Goats are browsers rather than grazers, and fussier than you might think. Our pure Chinese herbal formulas are suitable for goats too, with a dose for an animal of 40 to 60 kilos. Below you will find the formulas and the easiest way to give them.

What to watch for in goats

Goats are curious and active. If a goat goes quiet, eats less, walks stiffly or its coat looks duller, that is often the first sign that something is going on.

As with sheep, the claws deserve regular attention. Legg-Motion supports hooves and claws; good trimming remains the foundation.

How to give herbs to a goat

Mix the herbs into a handful of pellets or concentrate, that is the easiest way to get them in. If your goat is not keen, try a spoonful of apple sauce or apple syrup: the sweet smell masks the taste of the herbs.

Feed the portion separately, so the right goat gets it, and split the daily dose over two moments.

What to expect

Allow two to four weeks before you see a difference, depending on how long it has been going on. Claws take longer, because horn grows slowly.

Many formulas are not suitable for pregnant goats; the product page and label say so. If an animal suddenly takes a turn for the worse, have it seen by a professional first. Our herbs are complementary feed.

Frequently asked questions

For a goat of 40 to 60 kilos: 1¼ spoons twice daily for the first ten days, ¾ spoon twice daily from day 11. One measuring spoon is about two grams.

The dosing on this page is meant for goats of 40 to 60 kilos. If you have a lighter goat, such as a pygmy goat, get in touch and we will help you work out the right amount.

At the dose above, a 120-gram bag lasts about 33 days: ten days at the higher dose, then just over three weeks at the maintenance dose.

Many of our formulas must not be given to pregnant animals. The product page and the label say which. If your goat is already on other products, ask a professional for advice first.
